Chevy intentionally has been mass producing vehicles that can and will kill someone. The cost for the engine replacement and vehicle repair is 9000 to 11000 dollars. These vehicles have faulty piston rings in them and also it is common for the vehicles to be useless and have to have a total engine replacement. The mechanic has stated that it needs a whole new engine as all the oil had drained from the vehicle and cause damage that cannot be repaired. Towed the vehicle to the shop, where it was determined that the PVC was frozen which caused all the oil to drain from the engine, the timing belt seized up and caused total engine failure. Tried to jump the vehicle would not start. Then I brought the car home the weather was extremely cold, and the vehicle would not start. The codes were then cleared, and no further issues or engine lights were on. We then replaced both the camshaft, crankshaft and vvt solenoids. My 2016 Chevy Equinox started running rough and when the codes were run it came back with P0335, P0016 and P0017. They've had 3 class action lawsuits filed against them, but nothing has changed. They sold these cars knowing that there was a problem with the engines, and no one is holding them accountable. It's very sad that one of the biggest Auto manufacturers won't stand behind their product. Unfortunately, I don't have enough to cover the rest, and I still have to pay the balance on my loan. GM would be willing to help me with 4K towards the new motor only. After having it towed to a Chevy dealership, I was told that it would cost me over 5K to fix it, without any guarantee on parts & labor, or over 9K to replace the motor which would come with a 3 year, 100,000-mile warranty. I did call GMAC and all I was told was that it was past the warranty period. The standard and extended warranties have expired. I have a 7-year-old car with 64,000 miles on it and have a balance on my loan. I don't know how I made it home, but it did. The instrument cluster said engine working at 1/2 Power. The engine light and StabiliTrak light came on. Coming home from work, 3 days later, it started making loud noises and stalling when I stopped. He had to replace the intake, exhaust solenoid and crank sensor, plus change the oil, but this didn't resolve the problem. The oil wasn't even showing on the dip stick. I was due for my oil change and went to my mechanic. They just told me that I should get an oil treatment with my next 2 oil changes. I did and they repaired it under warranty, but they never explained why it was running rough. They told me where to take the car for repair. I did purchase an extended warranty and called them immediately. I took it to my mechanic, and he told me I needed a new intake solenoid. The check engine light came on and the car kept stalling out on me. I purchased a 2016 Equinox in April of 2019 and had no problems until November of 2022.
